Sugar is getting a bum wrap. Sugar not evil. Sugar is a viable source of energy, but when not used immediately it turns to fat.
The key is to find a healthy balance between how much sugar you intake on a daily basis and how much you burn in the form of movement and exercise. The challenge is that the food industry has hidden sugar in everything, so striking a healthy balance is increasingly difficult. The average American is inadvertently consuming DOUBLE the amount of sugar than is recommended. (The World Health Organization recommends no more than 12 – 15 teaspoons per day, whereas on average we are consuming more than 30 grams. Yikes!)
Read labels and be on the look-out for these sneaky ways sugar is creeping into your diet, and then when you do choose to indulge in your favorite form of sweet treat you can enjoy and savor it to the max!
