This morning as I put myself as the priority and start my day with this contemplation on self-love, there’s an old song by one of my favorite country bands Alabama and the lyrics seem to be ringing true for me today:
I’m in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life’s no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I’m in a hurry and don’t know why.
So out the door with Kiefer to reflect in our beautiful wintery wonderland of a back yard.
Why do we rush?
How do we stop?
I realize that many times my mind begins with the ticky-tickies during the walk, thinking of the day ahead or messages I need to get to people, all the things I didn’t do yesterday. My thoughts are in the future or in the past. And there is a lot of judgment there. What an immense drain on our personal energy!
What if by embracing this very moment …. and it needn’t take long… we plug into the power of now, into the power of self-love which of course is the power cord to the big LOVE of all that is, which is everywhere and omnipotent. It can move mountains!
Like charging our cell phones. Look how they can last and last all day. How much more powerful can we become when we take the time to plug in, recharge, and then be of service throughout the day?
I breath it in. The air is crisp and clear. Kiefer goes racing by, fully in the moment. Living life, and it is fun!
